Indiana Women’s Suffrage Centennial

The Indiana Women’s Suffrage Centennial marks the anniversary of the 19th Amendment.

Hoosiers are invited to honor the ideas and ideals that fueled the suffrage movement in Indiana, and the people who led the way; to engage in a conversation about inclusion, equity, perseverance and power; to consider what remains to be done to ensure that our democracy truly includes everyone; and to identify and act on the lessons of the women’s suffrage movement.

What We Developed

Indiana Humanities approached us with this state-wide commemoration idea with a tight, firm deadline. We of course said yes. The project would be a collaborative effort with the client handling all content and Blue Meta Design taking charge on the creatives.

A lot of symbolism was brought into this brand identity. The plus sign (+) symbolizes positivity and the continued progress and contributions women are making in our county’s history and the top-to-bottom white stripe through it represent the sashes worn by women during the many right-to-vote marches, while the color palette stays true to the historic colors of the women’s suffrage.

A large emphasis was put on the fact that many small organizations with little, to no, design capabilities would be utilizing the brand to promote local events such as local women’s groups and libraries. We selected a typography that was readily available, created pre-made social media graphics and created a brand guideline that was simple to follow and thorough in detail to assist these organizations.

Web Design

The fully responsive website showcased lots of Indiana-centric historical tid-bits, resources for the public to utilize, an events calendar to showcase state-wide events, a timeline and a brief history of the past 100 years.

There was a plethora of collaterals such as a program and teacher toolkit, brand guidelines, speaker bureau, talking points, research fellowship, FAQ and a rack card for all of the partners to use to promote the centennial.

Social Media Graphics

We designed a handful of social media graphics to be used with the centennial commemoration announcement, promotion and for local entities to utilize.
